Gisou has officially dropped a new hair mask, the Gisou Honey Gloss Ceramide Therapy Hair Mask. This one was formulated with a whole “do-it-all” miracle mask vision in mind because the founder of Gisou, wanted something that ticks every box. We’re talking next-level shine from its signature Mirsalehi honey, stronger hair strands thanks to ceramides, soft hair with hyaluronic acid, and a good dose of antioxidants to keep your locks safe from heat and UV damage. At least that’s what the brand claims. But does it really deliver on all those fronts?
Gisou was launched back in 2015 by Instagrammer Negin Mirsalehi, and fun fact, her family has been in the honey business for six generations. Yep, they have their own bee garden, so naturally, that’s where the whole honey-infused magic began. Inspired by her family’s beekeeping legacy, Negin turned honey into the star ingredient of Gisou’s products. And ever since, the brand has been serving up one hit after another, from the iconic hair oil to the hair mask and even the Gisou lip oil. Safe to say, people are obsessed.
Gisou honey gloss ceramide hair mask vs honey infused hair mask
With their new hair mask therapy, everyone’s been buzzing about it and for good reason. They had an older version, the Gisou honey infused hair mask, but it’s nowhere to be found on their website anymore. Now, I couldn’t say for sure whether the new version is a reformulation or a completely different product, so naturally, I had to do a deep dive into the ingredient lists.
Here’s the tea: The new honey gloss ceramide hair mask packs ceramide NP, multiple forms of hyaluronic acid (hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate, sodium hyaluronate, hydroxypropyltrimonium hyaluronate), squalane, propolis, and a mix of plant oils like grape seed, safflower seed, evening primrose, and rosehip oil, aka, all the hydrating and strengthening goodies.
Meanwhile, the older formula skips ceramides and hyaluronic acid but had hydrolyzed wheat protein, coconut oil, passionflower seed oil, baobab seed oil, and candelilla wax (which is missing from the new one).
So, if we’re making comparisons, the new ceramide version leans heavily into hydration and repair, while the older one had more protein and richer oils. Bottom line is that these formulas are not the same, and the new one seems to be all about hydration and strengthening the hair.
The packaging
Gisou has always been known for its aesthetic packaging, but with their new ceramide hair mask, they’ve truly outdone themselves. The design gives major honey drizzler vibes, and according to Gisou’s official website, it’s actually a tribute to their honeycomb hive, aka, the heart and home of their beloved honeybees. It’s clear that Gisou is keeping up with top-tier branding, but let’s be real, it’s not just about the looks. Their products actually deliver, making them more than just a pretty addition to your shelf.
Gisou honey gloss ceramide therapy hair mask review
First things first, the texture of the mask is amazing. Its not gooey. It’s super soft and spreads like butter on damp hair. I scooped out a handful, big mistake because you really don’t need that much. It instantly melted into my strands, and detangling was no more an effort.
After application, it didn’t feel heavy or greasy, which is always a win. I scrunched my hair a little, making sure the mask really soaked into the cuticle, then twisted it into a bun for maximum absorption. Left it on for five minutes, rinsed it out, and literally, after just one use, my hair felt soft and hydrated.
This mask smells absolutely divine. Like, I was standing in my washroom just sniffing the air because my hair was giving off luxury salon vibes. After letting my hair dry, I was shook. My hair felt softer than ever and my waves were gone. Now, here’s the thing: my hair usually dries wavy, but when it’s super smooth, it naturally falls straight. And guess what? This mask had my hair looking sleek without even touching a straightener.
That means less heat, less damage, and way healthier hair. If frizz is your mortal enemy and you dream of effortlessly smooth, frizz-free strands, this mask is the real deal.

How to Use:
Gisou suggests using the mask like this:
- After shampooing, squeeze out excess water.
- Apply a generous amount to the lengths of your hair (but you don’t need as much as they say). If you have thicker or more voluminous hair, you might need a bit more, but even then, generous is pushing it.
- Wait 5–7 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly.
You can use this hair mask two ways, as a quick post-wash treatment or an overnight deep treatment.
- After every wash: Apply to damp hair, leave it on for 5–7 minutes, then rinse.
- As an overnight treatment: Apply to dry hair once a week, and let it soak in overnight. Wash it out in the morning.
The overnight method is way more budget-friendly since you’ll be using less product, meaning your jar will last way longer.
Value for money
Honestly speaking, Gisou products are not budget-friendly. Their products come with an expensive price tag, and if you’re using this mask after every wash, you might run through it way faster than expected. That being said, I personally use it after every wash, but since I don’t wash my hair daily, I’m getting the most out of it without burning through the jar too quickly.
Now, is it worth youer money? Absolutely, for the hydration and softness alone. My hair feels super nourished and healthy, and let’s not forget the heavenly scent that lingers. As for shine? Meh, I didn’t notice a huge difference, but the overall hydration and smoothness make it worth every penny. If you are expecting shine from it, I would suggest look at other alternatives.
Final verdict
Prior to this, I had been using K18 leave in repair hair mask, while that mask was doing pretty well for me I needed a little break from K18 because, you know, some hair masks are packed with protein, and too much of it can send your hair into protein overload mode, aka stiff, brittle, and just waiting to snap. K18 has sh-Oligopeptide-78 and Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, which work deep into the hair but can be a bit much if used too often. Gisou, on the other hand, does contain Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, but it’s more of a whisper of protein compared to K18’s full-on boot camp for your hair strands, making it a much gentler option.
Trust me the results are amazing. My hair is smooth and less frizzy. And you know how some products on your hair work for 2 or 3 days and then you lose all the softness and smoothness, with consistent use of Gisou ceramide hair mask, I have found that my hair no longer goes back into it’s dry mode. They do become dull ofcourse , but not as much. This hair mask is worth purchasing to get frizz free and healthy hair in the long run.
